Our 30th Birthday - November 2008
Society Members past and present and their guests gathered for a celebratory Dinner on 16 November 2008 in the Craigmonie Hotel, Inverness. After an excellent meal, Chairman Simon Gunn spoke of the Society and some of its characters, and introduced Doug Stuart, former Leader and founder member, who proposed a toast to the Society.
The guest artist for the evening, Paul Anderson, delighted his audience with a programme rooted in the classic fiddle repertoire and the Northeast style, but also included his own lovely slow air, Farewell to St Kilda.
A short ceilidh included a bit of a dance and featured the fine folksinging of Paul’s wife, Shona Donaldson, Simon Gunn’s “moothie” and our own Mod gold medallist Jean Mackay, and the evening ended with the inevitable stramash.
HERE'S TO THE NEXT 30 YEARS!
